Choosing the Best Landing Runway

  • Set the runway's heading by sliding the slider or tapping the "+" or "-" buttons
  • Similarly, set the wind direction by sliding the slider or tapping the "+" or "-" buttons
  • Click the "Calculate" button and the program will choose the best runway to land on based on the least crosswind

Airport with Two Runways

  • Click "Prefs." on the bottom navigation bar and it will open a page that allows you to set the number of runways to display
  • Change the flip switch to "Two"
  • Click the "Back" button on the top navigation bar
  • Set the runways' headings and wind direction as described above
  • Click the "Calculate" button and the program will look at all four possible landing headings and choose the best runway to land on based on the least crosswind
  • It will display the best heading for each of the two runways, e.g. 1st Runway: 1, 2nd Runway: 30, and then choose the Best of those two, e.g. Best: 1

Resetting the Form

  • Click "Reset" on the bottom navigation bar and it will reset all the sliders to their default values

Active Runway Preferences

  • Click "Prefs" on the bottom navigation bar and it will open a page that allows you to set the number of runways to display. Your choices are One or Two Runways

  • Click "About" on the bottom navigation bar and it will open a page that displays the version number, a link to the Active Runway website, and the disclaimer
